Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses

About Portland Chapter

We are the local chapter of the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN), the only nursing organization that celebrates and promotes the specialty of Medical-Surgical nursing.
Our chapter provides educational opportunities for nurses, promotes professionalism, encourages nurse involvement in health promotion and reform, and has fun in the process.
We would love to have you join us in these ventures.
If you are a member of ASMN, you are a member of our chapter.

About AMSN

What is AMSN? What is the Greater Portland Area Chapter of AMSN?

AMSN is the national professional organization of adult health (Med-Surg) nurses. The primary purpose of AMSN is to improve the professional experience of the adult health nurse, with a resulting improvement in patient care. AMSN promotes the highest standards of practice and fosters excellence in adult health nursing. AMSN also provides a positive opportunity for nurses to network and share friendships as well as professional interests and ideas. ( When you join AMSN, doors will open for you both professionally and personally.

The Greater Portland Area Chapter is the local chapter for the Portland area and SW Washington and the only chapter in the Pacific Northwest. It was chartered in October 2004. If you are a member of AMSN, you are automatically a member of our chapter.
